How does it work?
Features

  • Twitter is great for status updates, but can be a challenge to use for conversation about those status updates. This is where ChatFor.Us comes in. Now you can quickly and easily converse with your Twitter contacts with no character limits. You can also avoid filling your valuable profile page with conversation, leaving more room for your announcements.

    ChatFor.Us uses Twitter for authentication, so there is no need to swap email addresses or IM information. Get straight to the conversation you wish to have without having to provide more personal information.

    You need to break your thoughts into separate tweets. This is necessary because paragraphs are not an option. Of course if your thought is longer than a tweet then you have to stream several making it more difficult to read.

  • Keep your timeline clean

    Have you ever looked at your timeline after having a conversation with someone using @replies on Twitter? Your timeline stops being about you and what you're trying to broadcast and is now all about that single conversation.

    ChatFor.Us takes your conversation off of Twitter. It's still public. It can still be shared. But it doesn't fill up your timeline.

    Respect your followers

    Have you ever witnessed a conversation on Twitter? You know, when you follow two people who are having a conversation via @replies. You see the whole conversation in your stream whether you want to or not. ChatFor.Us helps avoid doing that to your followers.

    Your followers see one tweet, the invitation you send for the contact to join the chat. As long as the chat is public ( see features ) they can still follow the link to view the conversation if they choose.

  • Easy to use

    Focus has been put on keeping this simple.

    Creating a chat
    1. Go to www.chatfor.us
    2. Log in if necessary. It uses your Twitter account. There's no registatrion.
    3. Click create a chat, and give your new chat a name.
    4. You're now on your chat where you can immediately start typing and inviting people to join.

    2. Log in if necessary. Chat away.
  • Not all features are currently available in beta.
    Basic Features
    • Chats are public, just like Twitter. You can share a link to a chat with anyone and they can view it. They don't even need to log in.
    • Only people you invite can chat. Avoid unwanted participation.
    • Invite anyone you want, there are no limits.
    • Automatic clean up of chats. Chats are deleted from the system after a week.
    Premium Features
    • Create private chats. Only members of the chat can view the contents.
    • Chats archive. You can mark chats to be archived. Archived chats can't be contributed to, but are saved for later viewing.
